Our Terrell dental practice combines gentle care with digital technology to help make treatment comfortable and efficient. Dr. Kines-McLeod and the team use digital impressions and digital X-rays when planning care.

For cases where same-day treatment is appropriate, CEREC Same-Day Dentistry may allow certain restorations to be completed in one visit. We also explain when a lab-crafted restoration may provide a better fit for your individual needs.

Dental veneers are thin shells bonded to the front surfaces of teeth to improve their shape, color, size, or overall appearance.

Veneers may be considered for concerns such as:

• Chipped teeth

• Stubborn discoloration or staining

• Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth

• Small gaps

• Minor alignment concerns

Veneers are not the right treatment for every cosmetic concern. In some cases, whitening, dental bonding, enamel contouring, orthodontic treatment, or a crown may be more appropriate.

During your exam, we evaluate your teeth and gums, review digital X-rays, and take photos as needed. If decay, significant wear, or another oral health concern is present, we address these issues before proceeding with cosmetic treatment.

Your veneer treatment plan depends on your teeth, bite, cosmetic goals, and the type of restoration being used.

A typical process may include:

• Diagnostic photos and digital models

• Preparing the tooth or teeth when needed

• Capturing digital impressions

• Fabricating the veneers in-office or through a dental lab

• Checking the appearance, fit, and bite

• Bonding the final veneers in place

We discuss factors such as durability, color matching, tooth structure, and your bite before recommending a treatment approach.

CEREC Same-Day Dentistry may be an option for certain cases. When appropriate, digital technology can be used to design and fabricate a restoration in the office.

Other cases may be better suited to a lab-crafted veneer. If a dental lab is used, a temporary restoration may be placed while the final veneer is being created.

Veneer treatment focuses on precision, comfort, and achieving a natural-looking result.

Local anesthetic may be used when needed. Laser dentistry may also be used for soft-tissue shaping when appropriate.

Before final bonding, you will have an opportunity to see how the planned restorations look. Once the veneers are placed, we check their fit and your bite.

Some patients experience mild sensitivity for a few days after treatment. We provide aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up appointments as needed to ensure your veneers are comfortable and function properly.

Consistent oral hygiene can help protect both your veneers and the natural teeth underneath them.

To care for veneers:

• Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste

• Floss carefully along the gumline every day

• Avoid chewing ice or other very hard objects

• Do not use your teeth to open packages

• Attend regular dental checkups

During routine visits, we can monitor the edges of your veneers, your gum health, and your bite.

If you grind or clench your teeth, we may recommend a custom mouthguard to help protect both your veneers and natural teeth.

A good candidate for veneers generally needs healthy teeth and gums, enough healthy tooth structure to support the restoration, and a bite that allows veneers to function properly.

During your consultation, we evaluate your tooth structure, gum health, and bite. Digital X-rays and a CBCT scanner may be used when additional information is needed.

Not everyone needs veneers. For minor chips or small gaps, dental bonding or enamel contouring may be a more conservative option. Teeth with larger structural problems may benefit from a crown instead.

We explain the advantages and limitations of each option so you can make an informed decision about your treatment.

Veneers may improve the appearance of certain chipped teeth. The best treatment depends on the size of the chip, the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining, and your bite. Smaller chips may also be treated with dental bonding.

No. Before recommending veneers, we evaluate your tooth structure, gum health, existing dental work, wear, and bite. Other cosmetic or restorative treatments may be more appropriate in some cases.

The timeline depends on the type of veneer and your treatment plan. Some restorations may be completed with CEREC technology when appropriate, while lab-crafted veneers generally require an additional visit.

A veneer primarily covers the front surface of a tooth and is commonly used to improve appearance. A crown covers more of the tooth and may be recommended when additional structural protection is needed.
